The Nickol Bay Speedway Club first raced in 1974, holding its first race under lights in 1975. Over the years some of the best competitors in Australia have raced motorbikes and sprint cars at Nickol Bay. The club has hosted such prestige events as the West Australian Championships and nowadays is well known every year for hosting the nationally recognised ‘North West Stampede’ event for sprint cars.
